30 Apr

The number 1 Point Guard and the best high school player will be the Blue Devil next season. Kyrie Irving chose Duke among several strong colleges including Kentucky, Connecticut and Texas A&M. He is definitely talented and he was selected as USA Junior National Select Team.

This previous season, Duke fans and alumni were joyful for two reasons: winning the National Championship and Kyrie Irving signing the Letter of Intent. Kyrie Irving signed the Letter of Intent to attend Duke University and play basketball.

He played total of four varsity seasons: two seasons at St. Patrick High School and two seasons at Montclair Kimberly Academy. As a senior, he averaged 24 points per game, 5 rebounds per game and 7 assists per game which was enough

to place him at the fourth best high school player by ESPNU. He led the USA East Team to win the Nike Global Challenge and he won the MVP award for the same tournament. He also is awarded as the MVP of the Jordan Brand Classic. Previous MVPs of the Jordan Brand Classic include Brandon Jennings, Tyreke Evans, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Dwight Howard and many other star players. He also was named as the McDonald’s All-American High School player.

Irving is a good scorer and is strong at near the basket. He sure can score a lot and is also a great passer with exceptionally good vision as a high schooler. He has terrific shooting ability both in catch and shoot situation and pull-up jumper. He also can drive by many great defenders and score easy baskets.

Unfortunately, he is too selfish to be the point guard. He forces a lot of tough shots without passing to his teammates. However, he still assisted 7 per game and considered as the best point guard.

With Jon Scheyer and Brian Zoubek moving to the NBA, Plumlee brothers, Nolan Smith and Kyle Singler will be led by Kyrie Irving. Duke fans are happy that Kyle Singler is returning and Kyrie Irving signed with Duke. Duke is in hope for winning back-to-back National Championship with Kyrie Irving being the leader.
