Kyrie Irving’s Injury and Duke’s future

Coach K said that Kyrie Irving’s injury is serious and he will know whether Kyrie Irving will miss the rest of the season or not in about 10 days. Kyrie Irving was averaging 17.4 points per game and 5.1 assists per game until he got injured in the game against Butler. Although the star freshman was leading the team, Duke has one of the best depth chart in the nation. Nolan Smith can easily replace him and Seth Curry will gain more playing time. Nolan Smith was averaging 16 points per game along with 5.6 assists per game. Duke had one of the best front court and even without Kyrie Irving, Duke will maintain its position in the nation.

Kyrie Irving was showing great statistics until the injury and if he were to declare for the NBA draft, he was considered to be one of the top picks. However, this injury might affect his position and he might not get drafted and have another season in Duke. In the class of 2011, Austin Rivers, top rated shooting guard, will arrive Duke and Duke’s front court will become stronger. Furthermore, Quinn Cook, top rated point guard, will be another great addition to Duke’s front court. With Kyrie Irving, Quinn Cook and Austin Rivers, it would be extremely difficult for opponents to stop Duke on the perimeter.

Kyrie Irving’s injury have definitely affected Duke. Although Duke has the best depth chart, it is crucial to lose its starting point guard. However, it still seems like that Duke has high chance of winning the March Madness. They still have experience and expertise and a great coach.

Harmonies of the old and new, experience and expertise, leaders and followers. These are what Duke have this year and I’m pretty sure they will have a great season. So far, they are amazing. Coach K is still here and two of last year’s big three are still here too.

Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith. They are definitely the leaders of Duke this year. It looks like that they are showing what a good leader would do. They are well leading the recruiting class because they have an experience of “senior-less” team. Are you still missing Jon Scheyer from last year? Kyrie Irving is an amazing player and he is doing great. Harmonies of the old and new are well shown in Duke.

Seth Curry and a freshman, Kyrie Irving are now averaging over 10 points per game. Furthermore 6 players in this team are averaging over 10 points per game. Kyrie Irving is a nice point guard making about 7 assists per game and Mason Plumlee averages 8 rebounds per game. Duke is shooting well from the 3-point line as well. They are a well-rounded team, great at every aspects of basketball.

Duke is a team that can score, pass and rebound. They scored 90 points per game so far. However, they allowed only 60 points for opponents. This shows that they have a great defense too. The only problem would be bench. Duke’s bench is much weaker than their starters. Starters are not getting much time to rest and if this continues, by the March Madness, team might get much weaker. Well, they have a great coach and experienced players. I’m sure that they will do fine during the tournament. Possibly, the back to back championships.
